I wrote this free verse poem a few years ago after a run. I share it with you now in case you’re navigating uncertainty, feeling overwhelmed, or simply a little lost. You are not meant to walk through life alone. Sometimes the first step is gently checking in with yourself.

It can be overwhelming trying to keep up with the pace of your mind,

The glaze of the world, and the phases of our times.

Nothing beats stress like rest bringing your day to a close.

And no, it’s not when you send the last message or check in the last code.

It’s really when your body gets to a state of desire, desire to get rest.

Don’t trust your senses, they’re very deceptive.

Don’t bet on your urges, they’re very misleading

Time spent on healing will always get it’s value.

Don’t get impatient, no one can buy time.

Everyone is lost, can’t take back time.

I’ve been lost before, and I’m yet to find a clock counting back.

Only humans like to gamble

So…,

Do less of the hustle

Take less of the bottle

Use less of the muscles

Find joy in your mornings.

If you’re lost, it’s fine!

Make a choice, and be found!

When the struggles get you down, don’t let the zombies catch you there!

Love!

Adebayo the tech guy
